I am so excited about this event! My good friends, Debra and Nevar Murray of Banyan Tree Catering and Events, are planning a huge event for the 10th anniversary/memorial of September 11th. Ten years ago our country lost so many lives at the hands of terrorists, including 343 fire fighters and 77 police officers in New York City at the World Trade Center.
What sets this event apart from all the others here in St. Pete and all over the U.S. is that there will be a commemorative photo taken. In this photo we will (or REALLY hope to) have 343 fire fighters and 77 police officers in full gear. It will represent the lives of those men and women who died that day, as well as honor those who put their lives on the line still. This photo is the vision of St. Pete fire fighter Kris Hollenback, who is also a photographer.
In addition to the 9am photo, there will be fire trucks, police cars, other rescue vehicles, live music, food and drinks. The event is open to the public and is free. Everyone who is in the photo will receive a copy of it. I know my little boys will love seeing the rescue vehicles. I think there may even be a helicopter, but I can’t confirm that now.
Debbie and her daughter Nevar are working tirelessly to make this event a success, but they need YOUR help. There are 3 ways you can help.
- Share this blog post/flyer with your friends, especially families of fire fighters and police officers. If they’re on Facebook, invite them to THIS EVENT.
- Make a donation or sponsor the event, Call Debbie at 727-345-7111 to make arrangements.
- Volunteer to your time and effort. We need people for all kinds of jobs before and during the event. This could include passing out flyers, set up, clean up, serving food, etc.. You can call Debbie at the number above or email her at freedom.celebration911@gmail.com to let her know.
