I love taking my boys to the park to feed the birds and one of my favorites is Crescent Lake Park, which is located on 22nd Avenue North and 5th Street. This is a wonderful park for families, athletes and nature lovers. I discovered this park in high school a few *cough* years ago with my friends. We would often go there to climb in the very old Banyan Tree. This one has several different “rooms” you can sneak in and out of and they’re pretty easy to climb. We also liked looking for ducks nesting under the tree and sometimes found a homeless person’s belongings instead.
Now I take my boys there to go on walks around the beautiful lake, play on the playground and feed the birds and turtles. They have plenty of room to run around and if you go on a weekday morning the playground usually isn’t too crowded. It’s one of the more beautiful parks in St. Petersburg and I love the quaint little houses that surround it. The people there are always friendly. People bring there dogs to Crescent Lake all the time to go jogging or play in their dog park. As we pass the dog-owners, they usually stop to let my boys pet their “fur children”, as some of my friends call them.
Here are some photos of my boys and their friends having a great time at Crescent Lake.
The only downside to the park is that the bathroom is at the far end of the park. It’s nowhere near the playground, so potty-training moms beware. You may want to bring your own potty.
Read more about my favorite bay area parks and playgrounds. I still have plenty more to add to the list though. St. Petersburg has so many wonderful ones to explore. What’s your favorite park in Tampa Bay?
